Christian Scott's Comeback: Reminding the Mets of His Talent (2026)

Christian Scott hopes to remind the Mets what they’ve been missing after a season that sidelined him

PORT ST. LUCIE — As the team’s fourth musketeer, Christian Scott sometimes felt overlooked during last season’s ups and downs. While Nolan McLean, Brandon Sproat, and Jonah Tong drew plenty of attention with their late-season MLB debuts, Scott was rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and not always in the spotlight, even though he believed he could contribute significantly when healthy and consistent.

“I won’t pretend there weren’t moments I felt forgotten,” Scott admitted this week. “But I know what I bring to the table when I’m at my best and fully healthy.”

Since then, Sproat has been traded, leaving Tong and Scott as the next-in-line reinforcements for a possibly crowded Mets rotation. Spring training begins with Freddy Peralta, McLean, Sean Manaea, Clay Holmes, Kodai Senga, and David Peterson already in the mix. Tobias Myers is also in contention for a spot, with Tong and the 26-year-old Scott positioned as potential options behind them.

This setup hints at a rotation competition that could shape how quickly Scott can reestablish himself as a dependable contributor for the Mets.”
